It's an often said phrase, " Go to the library to get ..." and yet my students rarely heed that advice. Well, for three consecutive days, my students have had first hand experiences with just how fabulous the local library is. The teen librarian and I teamed up this week to show students how to get a library card, how to access online resources and most importantly how to complete a resume using the public library online resources. Best of all, I mean beyond the resume building activity, was that all of the students walked to the new building and stepped inside and were treated to a visit to the community room -- specially reserved just for them. No one "shushed" them or warned them to be quiet. We had our own space and a live person helping us through every step. Working with a public library colleague is one of those elusive opportunities in the past. I meant to; said I'd get around to it and never did. This year we are committed. We are working together and it is pretty great!
